Cheesemaking in the Adelaide Hills

Just before I forget what I’m doing completely I wanted to quickly post this last little snippet as a follow-up to my recent trip to Tasting Australia in Adelaide. One of the total highlights of the trip was a half day cheese-making session hosted by Sheree Sullivan of Udder Delights. The class was held at the gorgeous award-winning Bird in Hand vineyard and winery, and happily we managed to taste a couple of delicious glasses of wine and nibble on some fabulous cheeses whilst making our own feta and listening to the host, marveling at her extensive wealth of knowledge about cheese making. Bird in Hand is located in the Adelaide Hills, a short drive from the city centre, and even though our day was over cast and drizzly, the country side was still beautiful – it was easy to see why Bird in Hand is also a popular wedding, reception and music concert venue. The Udder Delights Cheese Cellar is also in the Adelaide Hills, and provides tastings, classes, a cheese-trail and of course a shop where you can order amazing cheese ‘wedding cakes’ – layers of beautiful cheeses for those who prefer savoury to sweets on the big day. (For loads more information have a good poke around their websites via the links above.) I can’t believe how time has flown since my return, and am pinching myself at the idea that this time tomorrow I will be at the airport ready to board my flight for my first ever trip to Italy. Bear with me while I’m gone, I’d love to be posting recipes while I’m away, but chances are it’s going to be more pics of food and the areas we visit…until I get back!!!! Mwahahahaha – can’t wait! I actually can not imagine how I am going to cope not cooking for an entire month…I’ll probably get caught sneaking into hotel kitchens at 3am to get a cooking ‘fix’! Wish me luck!
