Look I have to say I’m usually not keen when food bloggers start waffling on about unrelated stuff because it often seems A. self important B. boring C. wtf? But I’m just quickly throwing these up as I went for a walk today and started noticing how pretty all the weeds are…maybe I shouldn’t be trying (OK, not very hard) to keep them out of the garden. Funny – who decided they were weeds any way?PS – if you have just arrived here via A Cup of Joe (so cool, love it) – welcome, and I hope you can spare a minute to have a good poke around the blog starting with the home-page 🙂
haha! i feel you on all of this. i appreciate a short but sweet post on something beautiful, though!
Thanks so much! 🙂
beautiful! love it 🙂
Thanks Hannah! 🙂
Nice post. I think someone once said, "A weed is just a flower in the wrong place!"
A good saying! 🙂
We are two sisters who are inspired to help each other and children discover, create and celebrate beauty, even in unexpected places. We've written a children's book entitled May All Your Weeds Be Wildflowers, available on amazon. With lyrical text ideal for emerging readers and charming watercolors reminiscent of cherished childhood picture books, May All Your Weeds Be Wildflowers is the tale of Camelia Rose, a girl who is determined to create something remarkable. This story is a celebration of a strong sense of self and love of delving into work with a higher purpose, even in the face of challenges and opposition. Children and adults alike have been very receptive to this tale of trusting your instincts, belief in potential, and respect for the natural world. Whether you read the book or not, may you also be inspired to see and seek beauty, perhaps even in unexpected places that beckon a closer look.
What a lovely premise for a story – it sounds beautiful 🙂
We once had a rental home with a large garden. When it came time to weed, I had to ask my husband which plants were weeds and which weren't. I was sad to discover that the prettier plants were weeds! I was (still am!) completely clueless when it comes to gardening, so thank you for this thoughtful appreciation of weeds! 🙂
My pleasure – I think maybe we should ignore the idea that some plants are less desirable…perhaps just enjoy what we find pretty and appealing, and sod anyone else's opinion! 🙂
Hi! Being newly-married and having just moved into a tiny apartment in the middle of a concrete jungle, my husband and I pick wildflowers and ferns from the ugliest cracks in concrete and stuff them into glass bottles too 🙂 Now that the trees are flowering, we're not above snipping off the ends of branches as well! Friends always get excited about them when we have people over for dinner.
Brilliant – it makes so much sense! 🙂
Beautiful. Gave me joy. Thank you. 🙂
I'm so glad! 🙂
I discovered your beautiful blog through 'A cup of Jo'.
I am an urban gardener but I love weeds.
Greetings from Italy!

I know right? Thanks so much 🙂
For my daughter's graduation party last year I used mostly flowers/weeds I cut from along the road with some flowers from my landscaping for all my centerpieces. Saved me alot of money and had a ton of compliments!
Sounds absolutely gorgeous Diane, what a wonderful, clever idea! 🙂
so beautiful !!
Thanks 🙂
